Business Development Manager – National Security & Defense

A leading law firm is seeking a Business Development Manager for its Washington, D.C. office to advance the goals of its National Security & Defense Industry Sector Group. This role works closely with sector leadership, the Government Section Director of Business Development, and attorneys and policy professionals to support strategic growth and client engagement.

The Manager will serve as a day-to-day business development resource, developing market-facing messaging and identifying client opportunities, while building deep knowledge of the national security and defense ecosystem. Responsibilities include managing the sector’s business plan and marketing budget, leading development of marketing collateral and RFP/pitch responses, coordinating industry events and thought leadership initiatives, conducting competitive research, and facilitating cross-selling opportunities and directory/ranking submissions. The role also involves tracking outcomes and reporting to sector leadership.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 6–10 years of business development and marketing experience, ideally in a law firm, government affairs, consulting, or defense/aerospace environment. Strong project management, executive presence, and the ability to independently manage complex initiatives with minimal direction are essential.

The base salary range is $138,000–$208,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
